In Moldova, before the elections, they relied on the promotion of the “Russian threat”
Moldova is preparing to adopt a new National Defense Strategy and Action Plan for its implementation for 2018–2021. Recently, the draft document was submitted to parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Among the threats and risks noted: military potential in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova (including the Operational Group of Russian Troops - OGRF), the use of information propaganda tools, cyber attacks, illegal migration, illegal arms trafficking, terrorist activities, etc.
The publication quotes the words of the country's President Igor Dodon that “this document passed through the presidency.
“We (the Presidential Office - Ed.) have made many amendments to the concept of the national defense strategy. If they (the parliamentary majority - Ed.) accept the original version of the project, then I will block it,” said the Moldovan president.
He noted that “the ruling regime has recently often pointed to a threat to the security of Moldova from the Russian Federation and Transnistria.” Igor Dodon recalled the UN General Assembly resolution on Transnistria. Earlier, Dodon said that this would cause serious damage to Moldovan-Russian relations. He believes that the resolution initiated by the Moldovan government “will only worsen the position of Chisinau, including from the point of view of quickly achieving a political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.”
“I am concerned about the possibility of resuscitating the Transnistrian conflict in order to drag Russia into it. Will our democrats risk implementing such a scenario? I hope not,” Dodon concluded.
At the same time, he noted that there are parliamentary elections ahead (in the fall) in Moldova. And the ruling Democratic Party is preparing for them. People are frightened by threats from the Russian Federation and Transnistria.
