In Moldova, Belarusian potatoes are sold more expensive than bananas
Moldova is experiencing a potato crisis.
People buy poor quality root vegetables, the cost of which is increasing day by day.
This was reported by the local TV channel protv.md, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Prices for the most popular crop grown in the Republic of Moldova exceed the price of bananas. While government agencies argue about inflated and unrealistic prices, consumers are buying poor quality potatoes, the cost of which is rising day by day faster than the price of a barrel of oil,” the National Center for Consumer Rights Protection (NCPC) said in a statement.
As a result, the export of Belarusian potatoes to Moldova this year increased 320 times - from 42 to 13,5 thousand tons, reports the Belarusian Euroradio.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus explains the economic miracle by the fact that Russia refused to buy Belarusian potatoes, so exports had to be diversified.
