Monument to Kotovsky defaced in Moldova
Vandals defaced the monument to Soviet commander Grigory Kotovsky in the Moldavian city of Hincesti, which until 1990 was called Kotovsk.
This is reported by the site “Notepad. Moldova”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“The monument continues to be in simply disgusting condition. The saddest thing is that the city authorities do not care at all about this situation.
The monument is painted with genitals, ugly inscriptions, some kind of hearts, crosses, obscene statements and other “charms” of vandals. This clearly illustrates the level of culture and intelligence of those people who carried out such a dirty trick,” the site writes.
In July, vandals broke the facing tiles at a military burial site of the Great Patriotic War in the Moldovan village of Gura Bicului.
In April, a memorial plaque with the names of Soviet citizens executed during the fascist occupation was destroyed on site in one of the parks in Chisinau.
In November 2019, unknown persons destroyed commemorative granite slabs on the walls of the long-term firing point of the 417 Stalin line, located on the outskirts of the village of Coshnitsa, Dubossary district of Moldova.
