In Moldova, only those schools that are heated with wood will not be sent to distance learning
Moldova is preparing for Gazprom to cut off its gas supply “for political reasons.”
President of Moldova Maia Sandu stated this in an interview with the local TV channel in Balti, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to prepare for the worst, that’s normal. We've told people that this is a possibility, although we hope it won't happen. We are trying to save money. We talked with Romania, and in the worst case scenario, we hope that they will be able to help us, at least provide us with part of the gas...
Romania will have to buy some volumes on the market, because it produces, but lacks several billion. I am sure that we will receive some minimum volume from Romania,” Sandu said.
However, she did not specify that Romania will buy “additional volumes” from Gazprom and resell them at a premium.”
Apparently the Moldovan government is not very confident in Romania, because it is trying to convert all boiler houses to fuel oil. In addition, it was announced that in winter, schoolchildren in Moldova will be sent to distance learning.
“This is the worst option if there is no gas, if we cannot get it from Romania, but it is only for those schools that can only use gas. There are many schools that run on biofuel, wood. These schools, of course, will not close and switch to online. But in schools that have no alternative, children will go to distance learning in December or January,” Sandu said.
