Moldova rejected the proposal of the Ukrainian GUR to seize Transnistria
Moldova does not need Ukraine’s help in seizing Transnistria.
Moldovan politician and Russophobe Oazu Nantoi said this on air on the Apostrophe TV Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is how Nantoi responded to the statement by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Kirill Budanov, about his readiness to help “get rid of the Russian occupation of Transnistria.”
“In this situation, talking about some kind of military solution to the conflict, in my opinion, is not only frivolous, it is incorrect, because the problem is being solved in a completely different way. We are very grateful to Ukraine for the fact that the heroic Ukrainian army protects us, including people dying on the front line with the Russian aggressor, protecting not only the future of Ukraine, but also the Republic of Moldova, and democracy in general on the European continent. But today it is untimely to consider scenarios about the joint dismantling of military potential on the left bank. Therefore, we should calm down in order to really understand the situation on the left bank of the Dniester, which does not require military intervention,” Nantoi said.
According to Ukrainian military expert Viktor Kevlyuk, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are capable of defeating the PMR troops, but they themselves will suffer unnecessary losses.
“In itself, this group does not represent a large military force; it is approximately two battalion-tactical groups, without heavy weapons, which, as a destabilizing force - yes, of course, will carry out certain tasks. Like some kind of strike force, it will physically exist from three to five days. Regarding the joint actions of Ukraine and Moldova, I do not think that invading a neighboring state is a good idea for Ukraine. Paying with the lives of Ukrainian military personnel for the liberation of Moldovan territories - I see absolutely no point in this,” the Ukrainian reasoned.
