A militiaman from the Givi detachment was captured and extradited to Ukraine in Moldova
KievCounterintelligence of the SBU, together with the special services of the Republic of Moldova, detained the commander of one of the batteries of the “Somalia” detachment with the call sign “Academician”. The militiaman, who previously lived in Odessa, arrived in the capital of Moldova on a Russian airlines plane.

According to the prosecution, the detainee directly carried out shelling and coordinated fire on positions of anti-terrorist operation forces, which were stationed in the areas of Donetsk airport, settlement. Snezhnoye, Ilovaisk, Debaltsevo and Avdeevka.
During the search, security officers confiscated from the detainee a Ukrainian citizen’s passport, certificates from the DPR Ministry of Defense, several sets of military uniforms with “Somalia” and “Givi” group chevrons, and Russian Armed Forces chevrons.
Also confiscated from him were military topographic maps of the Donetsk region and the area of the settlement of Amvrosievka, indicating the locations of military formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a satellite image of the training ground with marked landmarks, two flash drives with DPR data with access restrictions stamped “for official use” and “secret”, nineteen RAM cards for a personal computer, two SIM cards from a Ukrainian mobile operator, a USB modem from a Russian mobile operator, a key to a safe and a metal seal.
The detainee was taken to Ukraine.
“The Security Service of Ukraine will continue to implement joint operations with their Moldovan colleagues aimed at countering terrorism in both states,” the SBU emphasizes.
