In Moldova, vandals desecrated the grave of a hero of the Soviet Union
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova expresses serious concern about the increasing cases of vandalism against monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
This is stated in a message on the embassy’s official Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The latest barbaric act was the desecration of the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, anti-fascist warrior Georgy Chernienko. A broken granite slab was found on the central alley of the Eternity memorial complex in Chisinau,” the report says.
Diplomats recall that recently unknown persons desecrated the monument in the village of Leuseni, dedicated to the legendary T-34 tank, whose crew liberated Moldovan land from the fascist occupiers in bloody battles.
“The Russian diplomatic mission is closely monitoring the development of the situation. The embassy appealed to law enforcement agencies with a request to conduct a thorough investigation and punish the perpetrators,” the statement says.
Today at the UN, the representative of Moldova abstained from voting for the Russian resolution on the fight against the glorification of Nazism and neo-Nazism.
