Moscow announced the exit of new regions from Ukraine
The upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine may result in the departure of new territories from the control of Kyiv.
This opinion was expressed on the Rossiya-1 TV channel by Russian political scientist Nikolai Platoshkin.
“Remember how it all started in 2014? In Ukraine, unexpectedly for us, a coup d'état is taking place. Some regions of Ukraine, not only Crimea, did not want to live in this country. Ukraine was on the verge of disintegration after what happened to them.
Now, it is quite possible that after March 31 of this year this will also happen there, absolutely without our participation. Because those who lose will not recognize the election results. The high will begin. I do not rule out that under these conditions, some regions will also not want to live in this gangster country,” Platoshkin believes.
It is interesting that the Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Tryukhan, who was present in the studio, said that Russia in 2019 is not interested in decisive actions against Ukraine, since it expects to first complete the construction of Nord Stream 2, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the short term, Russia has no intention of engaging in an armed takeover of Ukraine. Because there is still the Nord Stream 2 factor, and 2019 is the most critical year. It seems to me that this year, despite the elections in Ukraine and everything else, Russia will try to maintain the status quo. Still, Russia now does not benefit from any serious escalation of the conflict, which would lead to further waves of sanctions, including stopping Nord Stream 2. But after 2019, a critical time will come when a large-scale war could really begin,” Trukhan noted.
