This was reported by the Russian Air Force Service.
“On March 26, 2017, in Moscow, Navalny, as an organizer, carried out public calls for citizens to come to Tverskaya Street, creating obstacles to traffic and violating public order,” Judge Alesya Orekhova read out the materials of the administrative case.
As Interfax clarifies, Navalny was found guilty under Part 1 of Art. 20.2.2. Code of Administrative Offenses (organization of mass simultaneous stay and (or) movement of citizens in public places that is not a public event, public calls for these actions, as well as participation in them if they entail a violation of public order).
Navalny himself does not admit guilt. “I don’t admit guilt. People are unhappy with corruption, so they came out to a peaceful rally,” Navalny said in court (quotes from Interfax). In addition, his lawyer Olga Mikhailova accused the police of forging the arrest report; according to her, the documents were changed after Navalny signed them, RBC reports.
The court also considered a case against Navalny under Article 19.3 – disobedience to a lawful demand of a police officer, which carries a penalty of up to 15 days of arrest. Navalny's press secretary Kira Yarmysh said that the politician was arrested for 15 days on the second charge. Navalny made almost no comments on the second court hearing in his microblog, noting only that in this case, too, the court rejected all the petitions.
For its part, Alexei Navalny’s defense is appealing the court’s decision to impose a fine for an uncoordinated rally and to arrest him for 15 days for disobedience to police officers during arrest. Navalny’s lawyer Olga Mikhailova announced this at a court hearing, an RBC correspondent reports.
“We will certainly appeal,” she said.
Recall as PolitNavigator previously reported, in Crimea, a Navalny supporter was given 10 days for an unauthorized rally.
