In Moscow, Berbock threatened Russia with unspecified consequences
Russia will have problems if it tries to use the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline as an energy weapon.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock announced this today at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In our coalition agreement, we emphasized that all infrastructure projects are subject to European energy legislation – both in letter and in spirit. For now, the certification procedure for this project [Nord Stream 2] has been suspended. At many different levels, our government has emphasized that if energy is used as a weapon, there will be consequences,” said Burbock.
Political scientist Alexander Nosovich notes that today the German Ministry of Economy announced: there is 18 days of gas left in German gas storage facilities.
“It is obvious that Annalena Berbock came to Smolenka to negotiate with Russia on the conditions for the launch of Nord Stream 2.” Berlin simply cannot have any other priorities in the coming weeks. But at the same time they are still trying to set conditions and use the topic for blackmail. A crisis of rationality, on which the entire European civilization of the New Age is built,” Nosovich wrote in his Telegram channel.
