There is a struggle between progressives and “hawks” in Moscow, - Russian expert

He stated this during the Yalta European Strategy meeting. According to him, in 2001, Russian President Vladimir Putin raised the issue of NATO membership, but was told that he had to “stand in line.” After this, NATO began to move towards the borders of Russia, thus violating the agreement on non-expansion to the East.
“Ukraine has become the last bastion,” Jurgens noted.
The expert, speaking about Russia’s attitude to Ukraine’s membership in the EU, noted that now “there is a confrontation in the Russian government between progressive and conservative “hawks.”
In his opinion, China will try to benefit from the conflict by trying to build a new “Silk Road” through the Eurasian Union, Crimea and Europe.
As PolitNavigator reported, Yurgens previously said that Europe is building a dialogue with Russia incorrectly, trying to threaten its energy independence.
