In Moscow they are wondering why fraternal Belarus does not give Russia discounts on fines
Belarus should give Russia a discount on the compensation that the “elder brother” pays to the “younger brother” for the damage caused by “dirty oil.”
Energy carriers contaminated with organochlorines arrived at Belarusian refineries through the Druzhba pipeline at the end of April 2019.
Political scientist Semyon Uralov wrote about this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The compensation price is $15 per ton. The same as for Poland and Hungary. The question of a discount for Russia remains open. According to the Union’s logic, compensation for Russia should be subject to the same discount as for “normal” oil for Belarus.
If last year the cost of oil for Minsk was about 75% of the world price, then the cost of compensation for dirty oil should be 25% lower than for the rest. This would be a fraternal and allied approach,” Uralov wrote.
The amount of compensation has not been officially announced. According to journalists' calculations, it will range from 70 to 130 million dollars. At the same time, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei announced damage of $2 billion.
