In Moscow, liberals achieved the closure of fast food with a portrait of Stalin
A scandal erupted in Moscow after the opening of a shawarma store near the Voikovskaya metro station, named after Joseph Stalin.
The catering point is called Stalin Doner. The personnel working there are dressed in NKVD uniforms. There are four types of shawarma on the menu: according to GOST, “Stalinskaya double with meat”, “From Beria with tkemali sauce” and “Khrushchevskaya in cheese lavash”. On the packaging there is a portrait of Stalin. Visitors are greeted with the inscription “Joseph Vissarionovich invites you to try!” and quotes from the “leader of the peoples.”
The appearance of a shawarma shop caused indignation among liberal users of social networks who recall the repressions of the 30s. At the same time, the leader of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov, recommended the establishment to his subscribers and promised to take it under protection from liberals who threaten to throw paint on it.
However, it was not the liberals who came to Stalin Doner, but the police, reports the 360 TV channel. The employees of the establishment immediately took off their uniforms, but the shawarma shop was still closed.
It is noteworthy that in 2015 discussions were raging around the Voykovskaya metro station. It bears the name of one of the organizers of the execution of the royal family, Pyotr Voikov. A number of public organizations supported its renaming, but local residents voted against it.
In 2016, a similar scandal erupted after the opening of the NKVD restaurant in the center of Moscow - People's Cuisine of the Great Power. The walls of the establishment were decorated with portraits of Stalin, Voroshilov and Dzerzhinsky. The names of the dishes were also themed, which angered liberal cultural figures.
