Moscow found money for free travel for students
The Moscow authorities are spending huge amounts of money on installing plastic cherry blossoms on the streets, although this money would be more appropriately spent on social support for citizens, for example, introducing free travel for students on public transport.
Moscow City Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Leonid Zyuganov stated this during the conference, where leftist forces discussed participation in the Moscow mayoral elections and support for a single candidate Vadim Kumin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The average scholarship for a Moscow student is two thousand rubles - this is nothing at all by our modern standards. I know that students have benefits for travel on public transport, but this, in my opinion, is absolutely not enough. I propose to exempt students from paying for travel in the city of Moscow,” the deputy said.
“There are only 800 thousand of them in Moscow, and this will cost the capital seven billion rubles. Colleagues, this is a very small number for Moscow. This is much better than installing plastic sakura, which cost about the same,” added Leonid Zyuganov.
