The civil war in Ukraine will last at least until 2018 - Andrei Marchukov, deputy head of the Center for the History of the Peoples of Russia and Interethnic Relations of the Institute of Islamic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said this in Moscow during a round table on the elections in south-eastern Ukraine.

“There is no doubt that this conflict will drag on until at least 2018,” he said.
“What worries me most is the future of the people who now live in Slavyanka, Kramatorsk, etc. Those people who voted in the referendum for the creation of Novorossiya. In this territory, real cleansing operations are being carried out, but no human rights organizations simply notice this. They don’t even care about the fact that in some areas in this territory elections will not take place at all,” Marchukov also noted.
