Moscow experts familiar with the course of the Minsk negotiations on the fate of Donbass called it a “stuffing” and refuted today’s message from the Ukrainian side about the alleged plans to discuss the transfer of the LDPR border to the control of Kyiv.
Let us recall that such a “stuffing” following the results of today’s round of negotiations in Minsk was published in her blog by Darka Olifer, press secretary of ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. She claimed that on July 13 in Minsk it is planned to discuss the creation of a separate subgroup of negotiators who will deal with the transfer of the LDPR border to the control of Kyiv.
An expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Denis Denisov, who is familiar with the details of today’s meeting in Minsk, called Olifer’s information another attempt at wishful thinking.
“Such fakes from the Ukrainian side are not new and do not particularly surprise anyone. By the way, now it would be more logical to propose bringing it up for negotiations and establishing a group, for example, on Constitutional reform. This is much more pressing now. As we know, the border issue is the last one that concludes the second Minsk agreements, and it logically follows from the implementation of the previous points signed by Ukraine.
The emphasis now needs to be placed on completely different priorities. Namely, on the election law, constitutional reform, amnesty and the law on special status. Well, and thirdly, it is simply unacceptable for Ukraine to make such statements; both European and American partners should influence Kiev, because in this way the Minsk process is simply undermined, although, as we know, the President of Ukraine says that this is - the only algorithm in the current situation,” Denisov recalled.
Russian analyst and radio host Armen Gasparyan also agrees with him.
“Another blow from the Ukrainian side. None of the LDPR politicians question the order of the points of the Minsk agreements. Border control is the ninth point. Kyiv must first complete the first eight in sequence. Only after this can we talk about control over the border,” he says.
According to Gasparyan, official Kyiv, on the one hand, is trying to neutralize the effect of Savchenko’s speeches, and on the other, continue to torpedo the Minsk format, including by compromising LDPR politicians.
“It’s no secret that communication between the same Zakharchenko and the residents of Ukraine is extremely painful for Poroshenko’s team. They can't stop him. All that remains is compromise. They are counting, first of all, on the average person who is not aware of the specifics of the Minsk agreements. But even at this they act clumsily. In the Internet era, it is easy to verify any information. They have been deceiving the Ukrainian people for two years and continue to do this instead of starting to implement the Minsk agreements to the proper extent,” he says.
Gasparyan is confident that relying on fake news will not give Kyiv propagandists anything, except perhaps another delay in fulfilling their obligations.
“But the limit of the Ukrainian regime is gradually coming to an end. European partners are already tired of Kyiv’s reluctance to act within the framework of the agreements,” Gasparyan concluded.
