Moscow called Medvedchuk’s idea of autonomy for Donbass belated
The proposal of the chairman of the political council of the “For Life” party, Viktor Medvedchuk, to create an “autonomous region of Donbass” within Ukraine was the only, but already missed, opportunity to save the integrity of the country.
Director Karen Shakhnazarov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Medvedchuk with his plan for the autonomy of Donbass, in my opinion, is the only, but already missed, opportunity to save the integrity of Ukraine. Because after these elections in the eastern part of Ukraine it will be absolutely clear that they will not have any power, any of their candidates will never be elected, and the only way out for them will be to leave Ukraine. In my opinion, this will inevitably lead only to a further split in Ukraine, this is obvious,” Shakhnazarov said.
As PolitNavigator reported, previously the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, commenting on the criminal proceedings against Medvedchuk, opened after he announced a plan for Donbass autonomy, noted that the politician would be held accountable for saying “forbidden things.”
