Moscow does not rule out a blockade of the Gulf of Finland
If the confrontation between Russia and the West escalates, NATO countries may try to organize a naval blockade of the Gulf of Finland.
Military analyst Alexander Artamonov said this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The studio asked whether NATO, and in particular Finland, could decide to blockade Russia in the Gulf of Finland.
“I understand that we are talking about maneuvers that are currently being carried out. Perhaps they will not be able to go further than our first coastline, because back in the First World War we blocked part of the Gulf of Finland with the help of three lines of minelayers.
If the situation escalates, they may close our exit and try to violate international maritime law. This is to try to create a physical blockade. If people are simply seizing accounts worth three hundred billion, why shouldn’t they try to organize a naval blockade,” Artamonov noted.
