Moscow announced when the Crimean Bridge will be open to cars and buses
Traffic on the Crimean Bridge will be opened ahead of schedule in early May this year. The head of the Federal Road Agency, Roman Starovoyt, stated this on the MIR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, transport approaches to the bridge are being built at the same time, which will also be open by May. At the same time, traffic on the bridge will be free.
“We have the technical ability to open road traffic earlier for cars and buses. In accordance with the state contract, we must open traffic on the road part of the bridge in December of this year. We managed to install the navigable arches of the bridge before the winter storms last year, although this was planned in the spring. We have the opportunity to open traffic at the beginning of the tourist season.
At the moment, there is very little work left to do that would allow this to be done. We still have about 30% of the top asphalt concrete to lay on the bridge itself...
In addition to the bridge itself, in order to open it to traffic, it is necessary to complete work on the approaches to the bridge. And from the side of the Krasnodar Territory it is 40 kilometers, let me remind you, of roads of the first technical category.
Work began simultaneously with the construction of the bridge, and the builders there are also ready to provide a road for traffic by the beginning of the tourist season, namely by the beginning of May... and this is eight and a half kilometers to Kerch,” Starovoit said.
