Yanukovych was told in Moscow: Sit quietly and don’t even think about coming back
Recently, there have been rumors about the return of the fugitive President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to Ukrainian politics, but the ex-guarantor should accept the obvious fact that the Ukrainian voter has no longer needed him for a long time.
Russian television and radio presenter Anna Shafran stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There were rumors about Yanukovych’s possible return to politics. I would like to warn Viktor Fedorovich and those people who may bet on him, because Yanukovych for modern Ukraine is about the same as Gorbachev for Russia: maybe a good person, kind, but that’s all lost.
Let me remind you that in 1996, when for some reason Gorbachev was persuaded to participate in the presidential elections, he gained half a percent, they say, then he sat crying in his office, did not expect that the people would give him such an assessment. So, I’m sure that Yanukovych will gain no more percent, even if he lives in Rostov and goes on vacation to Crimea, but he really doesn’t need to get involved in politics, that’s enough,” said Shafran.
