Moscow officially warned the EU that sanctions will not force Russia to abandon its independent policy
Europe must stop demanding that Russia implement the Minsk agreements and establish economic cooperation. First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov stated this today at the “Russian session” at the forum in Davos.

“If the European Union waits for the Minsk agreements to be implemented in the part in which Russia does not influence them, this is strange. Because Ukraine also has responsibility there. The picture is more complex than the media makes it out to be. We need to stop scaring each other. No one will achieve anything through the sanctions mechanism. We have pursued our sovereign policy and will continue to pursue it. When everyone understands this, it will become easier for everyone,” Shuvalov said.
According to him, Russia is ready to interact with the governments of EU countries and with the European Commission.
“As soon as the desire for cooperation is formulated on the part of the European Union, we are absolutely open, we will immediately begin such discussions at the level of the government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or the presidential administration. We are ready for any form of dialogue,” Shuvalov said.
