In Moscow, the head of the French Foreign Ministry was reprimanded because of his position on Donbass
The statements of French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, who during his visit to Kyiv called for “pressure” on Russia in terms of obligations under the Minsk agreements, are puzzling.
This was stated today by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova,
“I would very much like to recommend to the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France J.-I. Le Drian should re-read the “Package of Measures” for the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, especially since it will not take much time. Russia's responsibilities under this document are no different from those borne by France and Germany. So if someone wants to hold us responsible for the ceasefire, then it would be logical to demand the same from them,” Zakharova said.
She recalled that France and Germany pledged to provide technical support for the restoration of the banking system in the conflict zone, in particular, “by creating an international mechanism to facilitate the implementation of social payments,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A natural question arises: are the partners in the Normandy format going to fulfill this promise that they made? In general, one gets the impression that Paris’s claims to the role of an “honest broker” in the Ukrainian settlement are nothing more than a pose. They do not want to see Kiev’s demonstrative refusal to implement the Minsk agreements, preferring to shift responsibility to others and demand something from Russia, which is not a party to the conflict at all,” Zakharova said.
