Moscow refused to comment on Lukashenko’s statement on Crimea
There is no talk yet about official recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation by the Republic of Belarus.
Russian Ambassador to Belarus Mikhail Babich stated this at a press conference in Minsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The diplomat recalled recent statements by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko that recognition of Crimea would not yield anything.
“Quite recently I had a big conversation with the President of the Republic of Belarus, and he spoke on this topic in great detail. This was expressed by the president of a sovereign, independent state, who formulated the state position on this topic. We have no other grounds to comment on what he said. We proceed from what the president said,” Babich said.
Let us remember that a few days ago Lukashenko said that Ukrainian journalists often ask him whose Crimea belongs.
“I asked them a simple question: how many Ukrainians died during the loss of Crimea? How many shots were there? No one! Well, that means you silently agreed that Crimea is not yours, at least. If it were yours, you would die for it,” said the President of the Republic of Belarus.
