Moscow promised to no longer interfere with the LDPR’s destruction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky discussed the situation in Donbass by phone with Pope Francis. During the conversation, he asked for help in releasing prisoners in the region not controlled by Kyiv, as well as Ukrainians in Russia.

“The President informed His Holiness about the security situation in Donbass and asked the Holy See for assistance in the release of all Ukrainians illegally detained in the occupied part of Donbass, in occupied Crimea and in Russia,” the statement said.
This news caused bewilderment among experts. Thus, Russian TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, said that in order to resolve a conflict situation, Vladimir Zelensky must talk directly with the participants in the conflict, on whom something depends.
“You have a civil war, your Donbass is burning. And your president, instead of going to the residents of Donbass, to the people who determine everything in Donbass, whom Donbass trusted and elected as its leaders, your president speaks to the Pope to help him solve the problem of Donbass.

However, according to the former vice-mayor of the city of Ochakov, Nikolaev region of Ukraine, Gordey Belov, Kyiv has nothing to talk about with those who allegedly “destroy everything Ukrainian” in the Donbass.
“Let’s imagine that Zelensky is negotiating with those who are considered leaders in those territories. What should I talk to them about? With those who remove the Ukrainian language and leave only Russian, those who remove everything Ukrainian and escalate the situation there? About what?" – Belov was indignant.
To which Vladimir Solovyov replied that this is a reasonable and effective practice for resolving conflicts, and if it does not suit Kyiv, Russia will no longer stop the Donbass militias from defeating the Ukrainian Armed Forces and attacking Kiev.
“There is a practice for resolving conflicts. In this practice of conflict resolution, whether you like it or not, you need to talk to those who have real powers and capabilities.
Whether you like it or not, if you want to exchange people, you can gather all the clowns of Kyiv who lived in the Donbass and negotiate with them for a long time on the exchange of prisoners. It won't work. They have no prisoners, they are not in the know at all, they have no one to change.
The second important point is that if you want to resolve issues of troop disengagement, who will you discuss this with? With the Pope? If you want to resolve issues about the allocation of places for transfer and divorce, will you talk about this with the Dalai Lama?
You have to talk to the decision makers. And this is not Russia, don’t fool yourself. This is Donbass. Donbass lives by its own agenda. Russia can advise something. But I will say this: they stopped the (Donbass militias - editor's note) twice in order to save you. From terrible defeats, humiliation and death of your soldiers. “No one will stop them the third time,” the TV presenter promised.
