In Moscow, the Orthodox community is ready to stand, and in Kyiv – to fight
Russian social activists propose to support the Orthodox Christians in Ukraine with large-scale actions.
Coordinator of the “Forty Forties” movement Andrei Kormukhin stated this on air on the Russian TV channel “Spas”.
“We are creating an initiative group. Let's write a letter to His Holiness and President Putin so that we will be allowed to organize more standing of the cross in Moscow and other cities. So that our brothers in Ukraine can see that we are ready to pray not only in churches, but also on the street - in the cold and rain,” said Kormukhin.
For her part, Kiev social activist Galina Zaporozhtseva said that officer organizations in Kyiv are ready to resist nationalists who try to seize churches.
“The officer corps in Kyiv is ready to defend churches. These are retired police and military officers. They are grouped and are only waiting for the call of the hierarchy. They will stand up to defend the churches,” says Zaporozhtseva.
