Participants in an information campaign to justify the murder of the Russian ambassador to Turkey should be considered terrorists, Senator Alexei Pushkov said at a meeting of the Federation Council on Friday.

“This terrorist act had an information dimension. I mean the disgusting campaign that has unfolded in some media in the West and the Middle East to justify and even glorify this murder. I think this should be responded to. In some countries, the authorities already intend to bring to justice the authors of offensive comments addressed to the Russian ambassador, who supported the monstrous terrorist attack,” he noted.
Pushkov proposes “to prepare a separate appeal to national parliaments, the Council of Europe, the Interparliamentary Union, and other organizations with the aim of calling for information support for terrorism to be considered as a form of passive terrorism. And accept the principle that such justification should be punishable by law.”
