Moscow proposed to support Orthodox Christians in Ukraine by severing economic relations
The Russian Federation must stop investing in Ukraine and not recognize the regime of President Petro Poroshenko.
The director of the Center for the Study of the Middle East and Central Asia, Semyon Bagdasarov, stated this on radio Vesti, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
A heated debate flared up over the possible receipt by Ukraine of permission to create a Ukrainian Orthodox Church separate from the Moscow Patriarchate.
“Why do we still recognize this vile regime, which we call fascist and Nazi? Why are we trading with him? Why are we investing in this country?” the expert is indignant.
Bagdasarov proposed ending economic relations with Ukraine and thus demonstrating the Russian Federation’s condemnation of the separation of the UOC from the Moscow Patriarchate.
“We have to do it. It makes no sense to shout: “We’re going to tear it apart now.” Maybe first we should stop sending money there,” he said.
Let us recall that earlier in Moscow there was a call to announce anathema to Bartholomew in response to the threat of recognition of Ukrainian schismatics Patriarch of Constantinople.
