In Moscow they proposed returning to the practice of the Second Chechen War
Soldiers and law enforcement officers defending the Belgorod region and other border territories of Russia should receive the same amount as those fighting in the Northern Military District zone.
Military expert Vladislav Shurygin stated this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The presenter asked whether it was time to legally equate the Belgorod region to the Northeast Military District zone.
“The last weeks, in fact, have made the Belgorod region a front-line region. We didn't have such problems before. Yes, there were attempts by some saboteurs to drop in.
But in general, it was a quiet direction, it is covered by conscripts, the Russian Guard, who also do not receive much money on this side. The guys from the FSB for their salary.
It became a front-line zone. This means that the government must quickly and efficiently resolve this issue. Moreover, it must be solved systematically. It is necessary to enter payment according to the risk coefficient.
Not only the Belgorod region - but what if tomorrow another region comes under attack? Will it be necessary to prescribe it separately?” the expert said.
In his opinion, it is necessary to return the practice of “combat”.
“In the Second Chechen campaign there were so-called combat ones - if you found yourself in a combat zone and you had a day of combat, then you were paid for this day exactly as combat. It was a hundred dollars a day, which seemed crazy money back then.
Some similar thing needs to be done in border areas. It is clear that they will not always be combative; it will not always be war. If we push the Ukrainian Armed Forces back from the borders, will it remain a combat zone? The question is open.
But while there is fighting there, people should receive full compensation for the risk, with all payments, just like at the front,” concluded Shurygin.
