This opinion in the comments “Moskovsky Komsomolets” said Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, assessing Volcker’s latest anti-Russian attacks against Russia.
“Periodically, Volker gives Poroshenko political injections in the form of public statements so that the President of Ukraine feels confident in the difficult situation that is developing in the country today. Firstly, Russia will immediately block the American resolution in the UN Security Council if it says that the border should be transferred to the control of peacekeepers. There are Minsk agreements, which spell out point by point what Kyiv must do to resolve the conflict. Volker can say whatever he wants, but Moscow will not accept anything that does not correspond to previously reached agreements. As soon as the Russian-Ukrainian border in Donbass is closed, the Ukrainian army will invade to clear out the DPR and LPR, which will lead to huge casualties among the civilian population,” the expert said.
He also focused on the statement of the American diplomat regarding arms supplies to Ukraine.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin has already said that this decision by Washington will indicate the crossing of a red line, and Moscow’s response will be adequate,” Korotchenko emphasized. – In particular, mass issuance of Russian passports may begin in the DPR and LPR, and then the Russian army will have the right to use force to protect its citizens in the Donbass. At the same time, the United States will not be able to quietly organize the supply of weapons to Kyiv, since this procedure is strictly regulated, including the need for public approval from Congress and the president.”
