In Moscow they threatened to kidnap Avakov and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine
The kidnapping of two Russian servicemen at a security checkpoint in Crimea could have the most dire consequences for the Ukrainian leadership. Military journalist Viktor Baranets stated this in an interview with Day TV.

“Perhaps we will apply adequate measures in the illegal field. We will kidnap Ukrainian military personnel right up to the Minister of Defense, the Chief of the General Staff and the Minister of Internal Affairs, if necessary. We will take everyone we need if Ukraine works using such methods,” Baranets said.
At the same time, he noted that for now Russia will not stoop to such methods.
“I don’t think that Russia will stoop to stealing someone on Ukrainian territory and then using it for exchange, although this option suggests itself. So far, within the legal framework, there are statements demanding the return of Russian military personnel who previously served in the Ukrainian army. If Ukraine does not listen, we will appeal to international institutions, including the UN,” Baranets said.
The journalist recalled that, according to a statement from the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, 3800 cases have already been initiated against Russian military personnel who previously served in the Ukrainian army.
“This incident showed that the SBU is actively working in Crimea and other adjacent territories, hunting for those Russian military personnel who previously served in the Ukrainian army. On the other hand, this indicates the protruding ears of the Russian military personnel who fell into this cheap mousetrap. I think that similar incidents on the Ukrainian side will be repeated,” Baranets said.
