Moscow urged to keep an eye out for Erdogan
Russia should be more careful in its relations with Turkey, despite the anti-American rhetoric recently heard from Ankara.
This was stated by Russian political scientist Alexey Mukhin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The US military base in Turkey remains, despite loud statements. I would urge, of course, to pay attention to what Erdogan says, but I would urge to watch your hands, because Turkey is now doing exactly the opposite of what it claims. We can judge by the fruits whether we should continue to communicate with Turkey. Maybe we shouldn’t do this, not allowing her to make us pull chestnuts out of the fire for her,” Mukhin insists.
As PolitNavigator reported, Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party won the parliamentary elections in Turkey in the summer of 2018 not independently, but as part of the People’s Alliance bloc, which also includes the Nationalist Movement Party, which supports radicals from the Majlis banned in Russia.
The Nationalist Movement Party (Turkish: Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi, MHP) is a far-right political party in the Republic of Turkey. It has a paramilitary youth organization, the Gray Wolves, whose ideology is based on neo-fascism and pan-Turkism.
In 2015, the Gray Wolves, together with militants of the Majlis, took part in the blockade of Crimea. It is assumed that the killer of the Russian pilot who ejected from a Su-24 shot down by the Turkish Air Force was a militant of this far-right organization.
