Followers of Eduard Limonov held single pickets in Moscow today at the Abkhazian embassy demanding the release of Novorossiya militiamen, Russian citizens, who were arrested the day before in this republic.
During the pickets, National Bolshevik Damir Petrov was detained. Now he is in the Khamovniki police station.
Akhra "Abkhaz" Avidzba, the commander of the legendary "Pyatnashka" and three of his fighters were detained and accused of attempting a coup. Recently, Avidzba has harshly criticized the local authorities of the republic.
The picketers demanded that the Russian Foreign Ministry intervene in the situation.
The famous Russian military correspondent Alexander Sladkov also spoke out in defense of “Abkhaz”.
“Here are a few moments that fit into his nature: love of truth, family tenderness, uncompromisingness, reckless adventurism, lack of hatred, rap, KVN, war, indifference to power as a goal, no search for fame and manifestations of kitsch.
My comrades from the DPR were also arrested with Abkhaz. These are not just his bodyguards, these are ideological personalities, and, of course, fierce ENEMIES OF ENEMIES of Russia.
Anxious work with leaders who were born on pro-Russian ideas, on love for my country - is it there or not, this work? Leaders have already been born. They can be “recycled”, or they can be called up under the Great Banners and have them at the forefront. Some, indeed, were disposed of by “some enemies”; others, followed by thousands of people who were ready to die for the sake of an idea, were retired. This is our weakness.
Arrested? It’s easier not to notice, this is in ANOTHER STATE, ABKHAZIA!” – Sladkov writes on his blog.
The Union of Donbass Volunteers also released a special statement.
“The Union of Donbass Volunteers appeals to the authorities of the Republic of Abkhazia and the State Security Service of Abkhazia regarding the detention of the defender of the civilian population of Donbass, volunteer, Hero of the DPR, ex-commander of the international brigade “Pyatnashka” of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), member of the Council of Commanders of the Union of Donbass Volunteers Akhra Avidzby.
We would like to express our support to our comrade in arms. We know him as an excellent commander, an active and caring person. Avidzba showed heroism and courage during his time in the ranks of the defenders of the DPR, and made a feasible contribution to the development of the military potential of Donbass against the Ukrainian occupiers. He proved himself during the defense of Donbass, for which he was awarded the Gold Star.
In addition, I would like to note that together with Akhra, who is a citizen of the Russian Federation, our comrades who took part in the protection of the civilian population of Donbass in the ranks of “Sparta” and “Pyatnashka” were detained. Some of them are also citizens of the Russian Federation.
The Union of Donbass Volunteers officially appeals to the authorities of Abkhazia with a request to thoroughly and quickly investigate the case of the hero of Donbass Akhra Avidzba.
We do not question the competence of law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Abkhazia. We just want to draw attention to the fact that Akhra Avidzba and our comrades detained with him took part in protecting the civilian population of Donbass and subsequently really helped the residents and volunteers who returned from there, they have state awards of the Donetsk People's Republic, the situation of which is in many ways similar to the situation in Republic of Abkhazia. They have proven their patriotic priorities by deeds, and in this regard we request that the advisability of further detention be considered,” the SDD statement says.
Military correspondent Semyon Pegov drew attention to the photographs of “Abkhaz” comrades published by security forces.
“Judging by the photos published by the security forces of Abkhazia, they treat the guards of the Hero of the DPR Akhra Avidzba (detained with him) extremely harshly. Sources in the republic's security forces report that they are extorting testimony against Akhra Avidzba in order to accuse him of attempting a coup.
The boys in the photo (I know them personally) are experienced soldiers of the DPR army. Yes, retired. One of them, for example, fought in Semenovka and Donetsk Airport. As part of the legendary Sparta under the leadership of Motorola. For me, he is a hero of the Russian World. Other guys served in the no less legendary “Fifteen”.

“At one time, my comrades and I advocated for Abkhazia (South Ossetia, DPR, LPR, Transnistria) to join Russia. In response, a number of organizations in Abkhazia issued a sharp protest. I will not explain the reasons for this protest. Whoever needs it will understand.
After the story with Nagorno-Karabakh, it became especially acutely clear what the notorious “independence” from Russia would entail. If, God forbid, the same story repeats itself with Abkhazia - and it can always repeat itself as long as Abkhazia is not in Russia - it will be very sad.
And finally, we are very concerned about what is happening to our comrade Akhra Abkhaz, the commander of the legendary “tag squad”, now. I would like a little more legality and transparency. But the legal situation is such (independence!) that it is extremely difficult to find out the situation. This, by the way, is far from an ordinary person. This is a legend and hero of the DPR,” recalls Prilepin.
