The US plan to destroy and enslave Western Europe was revealed in Moscow

The war of the United States of America against the construction of Nord Stream 2 is aimed, first of all, at the destruction of European industry, which, being forced to buy expensive LNG, will be uncompetitive.

Andrei Konoplyanik, a member of the RAS Scientific Council for System Research in Energy, stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This (obstacle to the construction of Nord Stream 2 - editor's note) is necessary not only to provide a market for our LNG, but also to increase employment for all those shale gas producers and LNG plants in America. The main thing is to reduce the competitiveness of the European economy in the world market in today's conditions.

What happened? In the post-war period, during the Cold War, and also in the nineties, who were the three main centers of power in the world, outside the energy sector? USA, Western Europe and Japan, and the “dragons” of Southeast Asia.

Now the situation is different - the USA, China, and generally all the BRICS countries have rushed into action. This means that competition in the global market for industrial goods has increased dramatically. What does it mean to retain competition in this situation? Either you have to run faster than everyone else, or you have to pour broken glass into your competitor's sneakers.

And in this situation, Europe turns out to be the weakest link, because there are a lot of internal contradictions between the traditional old centers, the Young Europeans, added to the refugee crisis, Brexit, and the rest of the struggle for national sovereignty. All this makes it more expensive for Europe to maintain its competitive position,” he noted.

Andrey Konoplyanik emphasized that the situation with Nord Stream 2 made it clear to Europeans that the United States holds the oldest Western countries as its vassals, limiting their sovereignty in every possible way.

“And a little about sanctions. If we consider the US and European sanctions against Russia, it is clear who the main beneficiary is. The volume of trade turnover between the USA and Russia or Western Europe and Russia is not comparable. Therefore, the main loser in this matter will be Western Europe. Now all this has already been calculated.

A small example. March 2015, sanctions were introduced. I and my co-head from the European side, Walter Bolz, head of the Austrian gas regulator, came to one of the heads of the European Commission's energy division, who is the head of the entire Advisory Council.

And we tell him: “We want to put on the agenda the issue of assessing the consequences of sanctions for Europe. Because it seems to us that Europe’s losses will be very great.” And the phrase sounds: “Andrey, why are you trying to quarrel us with our American friends.” This is the story of 2015.

And now the story with Nord Stream 2 leads our European friends to the understanding that the EU countries are today perceived by America as countries with limited sovereignty. I won’t talk about commonplace things – where NATO bases are located, and the like.

And this limited sovereignty is the reason and pretext for the fact that the United States is trying to punish Russia for energy independence at the expense of the Europeans,” the expert concluded.
