Moscow revealed details of the “Big Deal” with Trump on Ukraine
Ukraine may become one of the points of the “Big Deal” of the new US President Donald Trump with Russia, but the Ukrainian issue is unlikely to be at the forefront of the agreements.
About it in the author's column writes Russian political scientist Alexey Chesnakov, whom the press calls close to the Kremlin.

“It is interesting to observe the latest discussions in Ukraine, whose elite has included itself as number one on the list of the main victims of the Deal. Sometimes one gets the impression that Kyiv is already being prepared for evacuation, while the favorites and beneficiaries of the Maidan are kept at the ready: some are jets in Zhulyany, and some are cars to Chop.
It should be recognized that if the “Big Deal” does take place, then Ukraine is unlikely to be its first and most important point. Of course, it will be impossible to bypass it. But only in part corresponding to the real place of this country in the world.
What was Ukraine for the world just recently? Nothing. What does she want to become? Everyone. The result of such a revolutionary leap in the national consciousness is the hypertrophied self-esteem of the Ukrainian elite. Over the course of three years, it has only turned into a huge headache for the rest of the world,” states Chesnakov.
“Of course, Western politicians have always had and still have a strong desire to use Ukraine as a state hostile to Russia. However, Kyiv has very little real opportunity to play this role for a long time. Or a military conflict. The result is clear. Or the collapse of the country. After all, fulfilling the accompanying wishes of the thieving Ukrainian elite is becoming too expensive. Moreover, the unconditional support of the Ukrainian authorities in their anti-Russian projects has already led to significant internal costs in the West itself.
This is why resolving the Ukrainian issue as one part of the “Big Deal” looks both possible and desirable. There will be at least one less reason for headaches in the world.
However, several fundamental points should be taken into account. First. There is no room in the Big Deal to return to the Crimean issue. Topic closed. Second. It is unlikely that Russia will refuse to support the rebel people of Donbass. Supporting the weak in confrontation with the strong does not mean that the weak can be allowed to destroy an even weaker one.
And, perhaps, the most important thing. If the West wants Russia to stop influencing Ukraine, it is necessary for Russia to stop perceiving it as a real threat. To do this, you just need to stop creating such a threat from Ukraine. Therefore, the “Big Deal” in part of Ukraine should guarantee the country’s neutral status in the future. Ukraine declares that it does not want to be a bargaining chip? Great! You shouldn't exchange it. Let it remain a draw. If he wants to stay,” the expert says.
