Moscow believes that it has thwarted US plans in Donbass

According to the US plan, the conflict in Ukraine was supposed to become an analogue of the Afghan war, drawing Russia into it and weakening it. Russian political scientist Dmitry Kulikov stated this on the air of the talk show “Evening”.

According to him, America’s project on Ukraine failed due to Russia’s reluctance to get involved in the war and the European Union’s refusal to continue the long conflict.
“The action project regarding Ukraine would have to become a project for a new Afghanistan for Russia. The goal was to drag Russia into it, emphasize its aggressive nature and further understand it. But, fortunately for us, Putin is not Brezhnev and we didn’t do anything like that, so this line became meaningless. The long war safety line was being implemented, but Ukrainians are not very capable of fighting a long war. Europe, which initially agreed to the blitzkrieg, does not agree to a long war. And, as soon as it became clear that this scenario was moving, Europe began to contradict the United States,” Kulikov said.
