He announced this today at a press conference in Moscow.
“When Türkiye reinstates the death penalty, it will be forced out of NATO. Then military agreements will be possible – joint exercises in the Black and Mediterranean seas,” Zhirinovsky said.
The politician believes that Russia is the only strong state in the world with which Turkey could enter into an alliance.
“Türkiye wanted to join the EU and NATO. Did not work out. Erdogan is moving away from Kemalism and returning to Islamism. He needs an alliance with a great state. Turks can't stand America. Europe insults and humiliates them. The only one they respect is Russia,” Zhirinovsky said.
He believes that if Turkey “gets on the Russian train”, it will enter the club of selected states.
“It’s impossible to lead the Islamic world, and neither are the Turkic-speaking countries. We have complementary economies. She wanted to jump into the last car of the European train. They don't let me in. They offer to sit on the roof. And there is no point in being a country where terrorist attacks occur every day. You can, together with Russia, enter the club of the elite and sit in the second carriage of the Russian train,” Zhirinovsky said.
The LDPR leader praised Recep Erdogan and called his opponent Gülen a traitor. “Erdogan is a wonderful president and a patriot. He wants the good and development of Turkey. Doesn't want Americans to rule. We support everything he does today and hope for successful negotiations in Moscow,” Zhirinovsky said.
