Everything according to Goebbels with his “a lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth.” Mladjan Djordjevic, one of the bosses of the pro-Western democrat regime that lost power in Serbia, organized a round table in Moscow, the participants of which argued about Russia’s overly warm relations with the current Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Rumor has it that all the capital's high-status Balkanists were invited to this fateful event at the Regnum press center, but the trouble is, they overwhelmingly recoiled from this invitation, as if they were at the prospect of visiting a plague barracks. This is understandable - in the expert community it is no longer a secret to anyone who is behind such activity. Mladjan Djordjevic is, in principle, not a poor man; the Serbian tabloids still love to talk about the murky financial schemes of his associates. Much worse is the fact that Djordjevic’s name is associated with such representatives of the Serbian opposition who, throughout their political careers, openly appeal to the West - with his godfather (no matter who children are not baptized with), ex-mayor of Belgrade Dragan Djilas and ex- Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić. And pro-Russian sympathies have never been noticed, rather the opposite. And also with a number of rather dirty scandals of previous years, for example with participation in the hunt and extradition to the Hague Tribunal of the first political leader of the Bosnian Serbs, Radovan Karadzic.

Therefore, the round table was mostly small (with the exception of one person - a candidate of historical sciences, a researcher at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Georgiy Engelhardt, who tried his best to maintain neutrality and even, in his words, “to act as Vucic’s lawyer,” although not very well convincing), but a very toxic coterie of Russian experts on “Vucic’s meanness” and their Serbian colleagues – “witnesses of Vucic’s meanness.” Both of them periodically take interviews and comments from each other, publishing all this in the few Russian publications that do not disdain such things, which are smaller than the fingers of one hand. So, it would be more appropriate to call the round table a meeting of old friends or a club of interests. From this, the statements of the participants, although they differed in a rather original view of reality, did not go beyond the narrow framework of the declared rather narrow format.

“He (Vučić) never spoke about the 22 thousand Serbs who were forced to leave (the region),” said Marko Jakšić, a representative of the Serbian Movement of Kosovo and Metohija “Fatherland”, a former member of the Serbian Parliament. – (Kosovo Serb Party supported by Vucic) “Serbian List” is participating in elections in Kosovo, and Albanians, wanting to secede from Serbia, did not go to Serbian elections for 12 years. If they participate, it means they respect separatist legislation.”

Well, it’s a shame for anyone, including ex-deputy of the People’s Assembly of Serbia Jakšić, not to know that under the Serbian government there is an entire Directorate for Kosovo and Metohija, which also deals with the issue of returning Serbian refugees to their native land, including building houses for them is simply a shame. And representatives of the “Serbian List” working in the separatist government of Kosovo use their official position to resolve issues of repatriates on the ground, including regular attacks on them, involving the international community in this. Under the Democrats and Djordjevic’s tenure as Secretary of the State Council for Serbian Affairs in the region and the diaspora, nothing like this happened, and the Serbs in Kosovo were quietly genocided, while the whole world sincerely believed that the long-awaited peace and prosperity had come to the region with NATO bayonets.

“Vučić’s policy is the establishment of a colonial regime,” said Alla Filimonova, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor at the Moscow Humanitarian University. – The formation of a colonial ethnic group is underway. And at the same time, Russia is building the highest level of interaction with the person who has established the regime of the most severe suppression of Serbian identity. It is unacceptable for Russian analysts to interfere in Serbian domestic politics in the spirit of who is pro-Western and who is not pro-Western, when the most pro-Western is the current regime, and its ideology is “other Serbian”.

That is, from the point of view of Mrs. Filimonova, considering some Serbian politicians pro-Western and others patriotic is not at all the job of Russian experts. But it’s quite possible to attach rather strange labels to the Serbian president, something she herself successfully does. Without even bothering to back up your statements with arguments. By the way, it was during Vučić’s reign that the term “Serbianism,” intended to ideologically replace Serbism with a multinational community united only by common citizenship, began to fade into the shadows and fall into oblivion. But under the Democrats, under whose board Djordjevic held his post, it was used publicly, from high tribunes.

The statements of other experts were also distinguished by reinforced concrete arguments. In particular, the director of a certain Center for Geostrategic Research, possibly consisting of herself, Dragana Trifkovic, stated (again categorically) that since the Kosovo government formed the Kosovo Army in 2018, and the “Serbian List” did not leave power after that, it means that it “ voted for sending the Kosovo army as part of a NATO peacekeeping mission.” A conclusion in the spirit of “if you smoke, drink wine and beer, you are an accomplice of Tel Aviv.”

And Doctor of Law, Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Kosovska Mitrovica, Dejan Mirovich, said that “Vučić is a traitor,” since in Washington he signed a document giving the go-ahead for Kosovo to join the UN. The most interesting thing is that Vučić did not sign anything like this, but here, of course, the main thing is to say. And say it loud.

Well, and, of course, Mladjan Djordjevic. The one through whose efforts everything happened. And not just somewhere in the Balkans, but right in Moscow. He, we repeat, did not betray himself in anything, hammering away at the squares with a printed syllable, like Lenin from an armored car. It's a pity there were no listeners. He said, for example, that according to the “treacherous” Washington agreement, Serbia would not object to Kosovo’s entry into international institutions for a whole year. In fact, according to the agreement, Serbia is freezing the campaign to revoke recognition of Kosovo for a year in response to the fact that Kosovo will not knock on international structures for a whole year. That the Serbian people and the Serbian Orthodox Church are one thing, and Vucic is another, and, apparently, based on this, last year he publicly insulted the late Patriarch Irinej, comparing him to a comic character, for supporting the policies of the same Vucic.

Once again he called the past parliamentary elections “false” due to the fact that, as a result, representatives of the pro-Western (sorry, Ms. Filimonova) opposition could not get into the People’s Assembly, although how could they get there if these elections were initially boycotted? And they did this after even according to studies by Western analytical centers (sorry again, but this is how they position themselves) in Belgrade they do not have the support of even 5% of the population? Well, all the accusations against him specifically are, of course, propaganda of “progressives.” How else?

In general, the gentlemen had a good time, saw each other once again, and spent a nice time on their own wavelength, in their cozy alternative reality. And outside of it, life continued. At our own pace. Where the Vucic administration and the Serbian List continue to fight for the Serbs in Kosovo, and official Moscow helps them at a high international level. The West, with the help of the Djordjevics and Navalnys, is trying to prevent this. And all this, whatever one may say, is more real and much more interesting than the local fantastic get-together that took place in Moscow.
