Moscow is surprised by Lukashenko's demand for new discounts
Belarus should not count on new gas discount, which is expected by the country's President Alexander Lukashenko. The day before, he said that he would like to reduce the price from 127 to 70 dollars per thousand cubic meters. According to energy market expert Boris Martsinkevich, Lukashenko’s words are unfounded, such prices do not exist in any European country, and Gazprom will not make concessions to Belarus.
Martsinkevich stated this on air on the PolitWera Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Gazprom’s only official statement on this matter is that it expects that this year the price of exports to Europe, according to its calculations, will be about $130-140.
Where Mr. Lukashenko got the information about 65-68 dollars is completely unclear. In this connection, Mr. Lukashenko believes that the long-term contract signed by Belarus with Gazprom should be revised based on his wishes - I, for example, also don’t understand.
In ordinary cases, in order to revise the value of the contract, the specified amount, the parties to the contract enter into some kind of negotiations with each other and present arguments.
Here is a speech to the press with reference to information received from no one knows where - it corresponds to reality, it does not correspond, I don’t understand.
That is, until information appears about how Lukashenko learned the price he named, and how true it is, I think that Gazprom will not react,” said Martsinkevich.
