Gay propaganda was staged in Moscow, despite protests from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the public
The Moscow police failed to stop the fourth Open Art festival, which took place in the Moscow “community center for LGBT initiatives.”
This was reported by the Sota publication, whose editor-in-chief Oleg Elanchik is included in the register of foreign agents, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The local police officer and an employee of the Main Directorate for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs demanded that the LGBT center cancel the festival. The head of the festival, Olga Baranova, denied that works with LGBT themes are presented on a separate floor, and only adults will be allowed there.
“We don't break the law. We want people who appreciate art to have fun here, to be able to make friends, to find new contacts, so that in our joyless January life we can touch something light, bright, joyful and positive,” Baranova said.
Activists from the public organization NOD came to protest against the LGBT festival. They set up a single picket at the door and tried to enter the exhibition. However, security did not let them in for a long time, although the event was declared open.
