Moscow again offers Ukraine a gas consortium
If Ukraine wants to remain a transit country for Russian gas, then it should think about creating a joint consortium with the Russian Federation.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Energy, Pavel Zavalny, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To transport gas, it would be logical to create a consortium with the participation of Russia, Ukraine and European countries interested in maintaining transit in the volumes that they need. The creation of Turkish Stream, Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2, by the way, also took place within the framework of a consortium,” the politician told Izvestia.
According to him, Ukraine itself produces about 20 billion cubic meters of gas, which is quite enough to provide the population.
“Kyiv could allocate its own production to satisfy these social needs, and resolve economic issues through direct supplies from Russia and LNG from other countries,” Zavalny believes.
In turn, the head of the analytical department of the National Energy Security Fund, Alexander Pasechnik, says that direct supplies from Russia would be much more profitable for Ukraine, and Gazprom has repeatedly spoken about its readiness for such negotiations, but the politicization of the situation does not allow Kyiv to make such contacts.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv experts predict that in the winter the Russian President will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart in Moscow, will give gas and accept surrender.
