Moscow noticed the lack of reaction from Minsk to Poland’s anti-Russian demarche
The Belarusian authorities did not stand up for their ally when Russia did not receive an invitation from Poland to commemorative events on the anniversary of the start of World War II. At the same time, a representative of Belarus will be present at the events.
Alexander Gronsky, a researcher at the Center for Post-Soviet Studies at the Institute of International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated this on the Youtube channel “One Motherland”.
“There was no reaction in Belarus - they simply recorded a fact. Maybe there will be some kind of reaction by the time the events begin. At the moment there is no option that they will not go. It is important for the Belarusian authorities to show that they shake hands with the West. If they are invited, they must go.
Another point is the level of the trip: the president, prime minister or parliamentary delegation,” Gronsky said.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, the West does not hide that the purpose of the invitation to Poland is to undermine the allied relations between Russia and Belarus. Former Minister of Defense of Lithuania Rasa Juknevichiene stated this in an interview with Belsat TV channel.
“We can try to show Lukashenko an alternative, if it’s not too late. But we don’t know how sovereign people working, for example, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are. The so-called elite of Belarus, who do not want to be a province in the Russian Federation. How much influence can she have on the president? That’s why he was invited,” Juknevičienė said.
