Moscow said that the problem with gas transit must be solved radically
Russia must stop gas supplies through the Ukrainian gas transportation system from January 1, 2020, since protracted crises must be resolved only through radical methods.
Vitaly Tretyakov, dean of the Higher School of Television at Moscow State University, stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Personally, I am in favor of stopping gas flowing into the Ukrainian pipeline system at 24 hours on December 31st. We need to get out of the protracted crisis radically, otherwise it will be impossible to get out of it with this balance of power.
This is a strong political decision, it will be made personally or after consultation with minor and other free and independent Western European politicians by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
Not only would I not bet 100% on this option, I wouldn’t even bet 50% on it. Why? Precisely because the problem is purely political,” the expert said.
At the same time, in his opinion, the gas problem is purely political in nature, otherwise the European Union would propose to divide in half the $2 billion of technical equipment to Ukraine.
“If this is a technical problem and consists of two billion, then let the European Union give one billion from itself, and tell Putin to also give another billion.
Here is an honest, civilized conversation to solve a problem for two billion that they have been struggling with for several years, discussing and not knowing whether it is possible to drink champagne on New Year’s Day,” Tretyakov concluded.
