A civilian airport should be restored in Kerch, which would relieve the main air harbor of Crimea by taking over passenger traffic from the eastern part of the peninsula. Chairman of the Society for the Protection of Passengers' Rights Kirill Yankov stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

According to him, even during the period of Ukraine, the airport in Kerch accepted civil flights from Moscow.

“The issue of restoring the Kerch passenger airport is completely frozen and cannot be resolved. There is a small strip of 2,2 km. Once upon a time, planes from Moscow to Kerch flew to the USSR and during the years of Ukraine they even flew... It is closer to fly to Kerch than to Simferopol, and the Simferopol airport will be unloaded if Kerch becomes an airport for the entire eastern Crimea. This issue, unfortunately, has not yet moved forward,” Yankov said.
