Moscow says that after Donbass there will be Odessa, Kharkov and Kyiv
Donbass, unlike Crimea, did not appear in the minds of Russian residents as a lost Russian territory that needs to be returned - now the time has come to form such an image for Donetsk and Lugansk, and then it will be the turn of Odessa, Kharkov and even Kyiv.
Russian publicist Yegor Kholmogorov stated this in an interview with military correspondent Gennady Dubovoy.

“When the topic of Sevastopol and Crimea arose, it buzzed throughout the 90s; in 2000, in “Brother-2” these words were heard: “You will answer us for Sevastopol.” That is, this idea existed in the consciousness of all layers of society for quite a long time.
All this time, Donbass was not perceived, it was perceived as a part of Ukraine, in which there are Donetsk guys who either rule Kiev or are pushed aside by Westerners. Only people like me remembered that Donbass is part of Russia, and only in a very abstract sense.
Even in March last year, when they were wondering where the outbreak would break out after Crimea, the conversation was about both Kharkov and Odessa. That is, this is a new idea that there is another center of militant Russian identity - this is Donbass, and Donbass itself still needs to come to terms with it. This is a foundation for the future.
Donbass needs to go somewhere in the future, and the image that it has created over the past year is an image that needs to be further developed. And, as everyone realizes this situation, no one will question whether Donetsk needs to return to Russia or not.
And then the issue with Odessa and Kharkov will go exactly the same way, and I won’t be surprised if even Kyiv takes its head one day,” Kholmogorov said.
