Moscow declares the need to build an analogue of the Crimean bridge to Iran
Russia must make a political decision to build a southern transport corridor to Iran - a new road with bridges and tunnels - just as it made the decision to build the Crimean Bridge.
Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“We need a North-South transport corridor. Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan have already done a lot. We have done much less. There is talk that this is not profitable from a commercial point of view. They say they don’t want companies. What difference does it make what companies want?” Mikheev said.
In his opinion, Russia is being pushed to create new transport infrastructure by the critical geopolitical situation emerging around Iran, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The market does not determine everything. It is governed by policy. If we had treated the construction of the Crimean Bridge as a commercial project, the Crimean Bridge would not have existed,” Mikheev said.
