Moscow strictly explained that the Minsk agreements are not subject to revision
Moscow takes a tough position regarding Kyiv’s position to reconsider the sequence of steps prescribed in the Minsk agreements.
Kommersant was told about this by a source in Russian government agencies involved in negotiations with Ukraine to resolve the conflict in Donbass and involved in preparations for the summit.
“For them this meeting is a political act, but for us it is a working one. If the agreements say that elections must be early, then they cannot be combined with the next ones. No one will review anything,” the newspaper’s source said.
He is confident that Kyiv’s intention to review, edit or somehow adapt the agreements will not be realized, especially since Paris and Berlin have repeatedly said that there is no alternative to the agreements signed in Minsk.
DPR Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova takes a similar position.
“There is an expectation that the three guarantors of the agreements will explain to Zelensky that they are not subject to revision. That it is impossible to change their logic, essence, and order of points in the “Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements.” The agreements were approved by the UN Security Council, and the leaders with whom Zelensky will meet are guarantors. Recently there have been many statements from Kyiv that the agreements need to be changed, rewritten, adjusted, and that everything has become outdated since 2014. So the biggest expectation is that this will be explained to him,” Nikonorova said.
