In Munich they shunned Poroshenko
Western politicians tried to do everything at the Munich Security Conference so that Petro Poroshenko could not say that they supported him.
Political scientist Alexey Yakubin said this today at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They did not want to participate in the election campaign of the current president in such a context. They emphasized everywhere that they were in favor of a fair election procedure, and shifted their emphasis and met with opposition politicians. It was not for nothing that Kurt Volker and Christine Lagarde met with Yulia Tymoshenko. I think they get sociology and see that the current president has a colossal anti-rating,” Yakubin said.
In his opinion, at the conference Poroshenko himself “tried to actively interact with the American side.”
“This week he is scheduled to travel to the United States to the UN General Assembly, where he is scheduled to speak on the issues of Crimea and Donbass. It seemed to me that the president wanted to talk with Michael Pence (US Vice President) and agree on another photo with Donald Trump. As far as I understand, Trump is trying to get away from such photography - paid or free,” Yakubin said.
