About it in an interview with the Kyiv publication “New Time” said the chief commercial director of the oil and gas company, Yuri Vitrenko.
“Under the supply contract, we demand that Gazprom return approximately $17 billion to us, including interest. As for the transit contract, they did not pay us an additional $12 billion with interest. The total amount is about $30 billion, which we demand from Gazprom,” Vitrenko said.
True, the Ukrainian official still admits that if it loses, Naftogaz will be bankrupt.
“If we lose (but we believe that the probability of this is quite low), then these will be the obligations of Naftogaz, not Ukraine. Naftogaz will simply go bankrupt. Accordingly, our assets will be sold,” Vitrenko explained.
He also added that in the event of Naftogaz bankruptcy, the state will not lose the gas transportation network or gas production assets.
“Gazprom will have certain difficulties in obtaining appropriate financial resources even if we lose. The situation with Gazprom is somewhat different; it has valuable assets outside of Russia. By the way, these are shares in Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2. We can become their happy owners,” the official dreams.
