We will join NATO after the victory in Donbass - Ukrainian admiral
Ukraine cannot become a member of NATO as long as the war in Donbass continues.
Former commander of the Ukrainian Navy Sergei Gaiduk stated this on the UKRLIFE.TV channel.
“You can’t talk about any transformations during a war. That is, one half is fighting in the east, and the other is being transformed to NATO standards. It doesn't happen that way. First you need to win this war and end it, wait for the post-war period. And after that, finally decide on a political course,” said Gaiduk.
He also criticized the idea that the Ukrainian fleet could switch to NATO standards separately from the rest of the armed forces.
“The fleet cannot become a locomotive of NATO standards, just as there cannot be a state within a state,” said the ex-commander of the VSMU.
