This was stated by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament, Elmar Brock.
According to him, NATO will continue economic pressure on the “Russian aggressor” until he retreats.
“Due to the fact that Ukraine is not a member of NATO, as well as for other reasons, we cannot be drawn into a war with Russia over Ukraine,” noted Elmar Brock.
He also recalled that Russia is still a nuclear power.
“Therefore, there is only one option - sanctions, in order to peacefully prove to the aggressor that aggression has a high price. This is the only way,” the MEP emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that Europe is also suffering losses due to economic restrictions in relations with the Russian Federation.
“As the president of the German Federation of Industry said: we don’t like sanctions, but international order is more important than business interests. I can’t put it better than him,” Brock emphasized.
